Matergenesis 2026

Mt Shasta Goddess Temple Fall Retreat

Join Priestesses Yeshe and Kat from September 9-13 at the Serpent Mound in Ohio for a long weekend of art, ancestral ritual, historical exploration, and sisterhood

10 spaces available

September 9
When you arrive either in Dayton or Cincinnati, you will be picked up and brought to our homes approximately 90 minutes away. You are also welcome to arrive at the venue in your own car.

Our first night together is for introductions, pulling oracle cards, and setting the tone for our time together.

September 10
Our first day together will be a beautiful time for a walk through an old cemetery and woodland. Wear your goth finery and bring your drum or rattle so that we can create unforgettable photos and enduring memories of this unique experience. We are being given access to some private land with a stone circle in an incredibly picturesque location, so let’s really enjoy it!

After our romp in the Great Outdoors, we will head to a delicious dinner at Murphin Ridge Inn, an elegant BnB with delicious food near the Serpent Mound.

September 11
We will spend the whole day at the Serpent Mound, one of North America’s most remarkable ancient earthworks. It is a monumental effigy serpent whose head encloses an oval area aligned with an ancient meteor impact site, suggesting that its builders connected celestial events with sacred landscape and cosmological symbolism.

Our tour of the Serpent Mound will include time with a local guide from the indigenous community, who will help us better understand the spiritual and historical significance of this profound site.

September 12
We will spend the day crafting, making art, and making candles for our evening Fall Equinox Ritual. Our time together will be casual and relaxed, allowing us space to integrate all we have seen and learned so that we can co-create a powerful ritual to turn the Wheel into the dark time of the year, honoring the lands and ancestors that have spoken to us through dream, omen, creativity, history, natural signs, and intuition

September 13
We will gather for a lovely final breakfast, then head out to return folks to the airport or drive home.

Refresh your spirit in the splendor of Sisterhood.

Matergenesis, the annual Fall Retreat for Mandala Members of the Mt Shasta Goddess Temple, gathers women for a long weekend of shared ritual, learning, and creative practice. The name combines mater, meaning mother, with genesis, meaning origin or beginning, reflecting the retreat’s focus on the generative wisdom of women and the blessings of the maternal line.

During Matergenesis, we engage in practices of ancestral veneration, honoring the women whose lives and skills shaped the paths we walk today. The retreat also deepens our Temple’s sisterhood with laughter, conversation, shared meals, and ceremony, while creative arts and handicrafts give us a tangible way to embody devotion, memory, and renewal within a community of women dedicated to the sacred.
